Nursing assistants provide patients with bedside care and perform the duties planned by the nursing and medical staff. These workers carry out a variety of indispensable tasks, but they always work under the supervision of the nursing and medical staff of their institutions. For example, they prepare and administer medications, and change patients’ dressings. They also take patients’ blood pressure and temperature. They may also explain the different procedures involved in the operation that a patient is about to undergo. Nursing assistants work in hospitals, nursing homes, extended-care facilities, acute-care or chronic-care facilities, and local community service centres (CLSCs). http://cfpsante.ca/
